Ng Kit Wing

Principal Pipa of the Hong Kong Young Chinese Orchestra, Ng joined the orchestra in 2018. She commenced her pipa studies at age 6 under the tutelage of Li Ping and is currently an under graduate student at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, taught by Zhang Ying on pipa and Ge Yang on liuqin. She is also a member of the Hong Kong Youth Chinese Orchestra and the Yue Pipa Ensemble.

In 2024, she received the Multi-talent Development Scholarship from the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau,which fully funds her undergraduate degree. In recent years she has won the Pipa Solo Advanced and Senior categories at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. She has also received numerous scholarships and accolades, including the HKCO Chow Fan-fu Music Scholarship, the Sir Robert Black Trust Fund Grant for Talented Students in Non-academic Fields, and Outstanding Member of the Island Youth Chinese Orchestra.

Ng has made numerous orchestral and solo appearances in various locations such as Xi’an, Guangxi, and Panyu. Recent performances include the pipa concerto Miss Loulan at ‘Preservation and Perpetuation ofthe Classics 2024 – Concerti’; two concerts with the Yue Pipa Ensemble in December 2023 and January 2024; the duet Spring on a Moonlit River at ‘Cantonese Opera Day’ organised by the Leisure and CulturalServices Department in November 2023; and a solo performance of King Chu Doffs His Armour at the ‘Makingof Musicians’ concert organised by the Music Office in January 2023.
